Unlike traditional master's degrees, these degrees combine an interdisciplinary curriculum with business training and hands-on experience, enabling graduates to acquire a new "tool-set" for success in a business environment.

Why Rice's Professional Science Master's Program was right for me

What's New

Spring 2014 Newsletter - Special Corporate Reception Issue

The last few weeks of spring semester are winding down, our eighteen graduating students are finishing their internship presentations this week and getting ready for graduation on May 16th and 17th to start a new segment of their lives.

FIRST YEAR STUDENTS ARE STILL AVAILABLE FOR INTERNSHIPS! If you need intelligent and hard-working interns, please don't hesitate to contact us. Students are available both for starting in June and August, or in spring if required!

In addition to our spring tour to the Baker Hughes Center for Technology Innovation, we visited Lonza Lifesciences in Houston to learn more about the company and the work they are doing! Thanks to our corporate supporters to allow our students an insight into their business and facilities.

Our seminar series is closing out this week. Special thanks again to our spring seminar speakers for giving their time to visit with our students:   •Ron Hujisman. HUCO Consulting - Bob Morehouse, ExxonMobil • Erik Scott, Talisman Energy • Danny Mills, HOK • Ann Smith, GSI Environmental • Erik Tobleman, Repsol • Giugi Carminati, Berg & Androphy • Dr. Foxhall, MD Anderson, Health Policy Office • Mark Jernigan, NASA  with Jeffrey Siders, Orbital Sciences Corp • Benjamin Hertzog, Procyrion, Inc • Lance Ishimoto, Lexicon Pharmaceuticals • Denis Headon, NanoTox

Richard David from NewSpace Global visited last month and spoke to our students interested in the Space industry. Impressed by our Professional Master's program, he commented: "It is critical that industry leaders are bilingual. That is, they speak both the language of science and the language of business. This is why NewSpace Global not only analyzes technology but also the management, market, and capitalization sources when covering the NewSpace industry. From our experiences interacting with faculty and students at Rice University, we have been particularly impressed by the understanding of this balanced approach to learning. I have visited numerous universities throughout the country and abroad and have found that Rice understands the skill sets needed to create leaders of the NewSpace industry today."  Richard M. With a focus on Rice undergrad students we are spreading the word about opportunities for Rice students to line their study plans up to create a pathway into our professional master's degree which - with good planning - they could finish in a 5th year of studies at Rice, completing their B.S. and their M.S. degrees back-to-back.

We also have seen a higher interest in our dual PSM/MBA tracks by incoming students who have to apply to both programs at the same time to be able to qualify for this opportunity.

NOTE TO COMPANIES AND ORGANIZATIONS: If you need intelligent and hard-working interns for your projects, please contact us!
